Why I Loathe Exercise and Sport

At school, we had to do PE everyday and I was not good at it at all.  I was good in all my other classes so it definitely stood out.  I used to get out of breathe and just generally not have much stamina.  I was perhaps a little chunkier than some of the other girls, so I think there was just always an assumption that it was my weight and fitness level. We did quite a variety of things.  We played hockey, netball, rounders, tennis and badminton.  We did gymnastics, trampolining, swimming and cross country running.  I liked badminton but I never did trampoline.  Swimming was fun but torturous.  It was quite a walk to the pool and after swimming my legs would be like jelly.  They always put swimming before a break or lunch and this would mean I would often miss part or all of the break or be late for lunch.  Cross country running was just torture and I would always be at the back, mostly walking. I remember sitting out a few times when I w...

Vinted Shopping: The Wedding

I have a big event coming up in October.  Its a wedding where I will be part of the wedding party.  It's tricky because I am step rather than a Mum.  I like the Mum on the opposite side, but she has lots of money.  The Mum on the same side is not someone I enjoy spending time with, but it's commonly a difficult relationship!  She is elegant and a bit of a social climber, she will be very well dressed and look great, even if it puts her in to debt.  The thing I have going for me is that I am younger than both, even if I am poorer and fatter. So I am really anxious about clothing for the wedding, especially as it's a two day event.  I want to look good, of course.  I don't want to look poor, but I cannot afford to spend huge amounts of money.  I also have the added difficulty of not knowing what size I will be come the wedding.  Its hard to plan ahead.  I also make jewellery, so I want the chance to make things to match. I had discove...

My Family and Food

I think it's important to identify harmful though patterns and unpick where they come from in order to change them.  It's hard to change things when you spend no time considering exactly what needs changing.  I think we are all familiar with those little unhelpful habits and thoughts, but it's easy to not consider them and to leave them unchallenged. My parents were in their late 20s when I came a long.  My Mum had a more modern upbringing I think.  Her Dad was a journalist and her mother ran a business.  They divorced when she was in her early teens and both went on to other relationships.  Unfortunately her father died a few years later and her stepfather was a difficult man.  Her stepfather was not a bad man but he was grumpy and best liked spending time gardening by himself.  My Mum was left with weaker family ties and moved to London to train and work as a nurse and made her own way in life.  She was a very caring lady and was liberal in...

What Happened Next: 2024 Part 1

OK, so on the surface, this year is not going to plan!   But it's ok, really.... My weight loss slowed up, a lot and had a setback or two, but it's ok.  Weight loss is not the only measure of success and this is something soooo important to remember. I started walking again in January and it was really slow to begin with.  It started to get easier again and before I knew it, I was walking much more than before.  My longest walks were now as much as 7km with at least two 5km each week.  I could see the changes in my body and for the first time, I could really feel my weight loss affecting how my clothes were fitting, even though I wasn't actually losing much weight.  It felt like my body was juggling things around and changing...  and then when it was ready, I started losing a little more weight. One thing I have long been anxious about, is losing weight and not having any clothes to wear.  Financially, I needed to wait until April to be able ...

Vinted June 2024

I think one of the most important things I did in June was to add another tab to my spreadsheet.   I decided what my priority wardrobe should look like.... Waterproof winter coat (not every size, maybe every other) Warm Coat (every other size opposite the waterproof coat for dog walking) Faux Fur Coat (not every size) Two pairs of jeans Two pairs of leggings Smart black trousers Two jumpers Dress / smart outfit Two smart tops Four casual t-shirts / tops Swimming Costume I think coats are an interesting one.  It's easy to forget them but, small coats don't keep your warm and dry and over large coats are just...  cumbersome and draughty.  You don't need every type of coat in every size though.  Also, some types of coat I have to wear in larger sizes because the zips start at the hips, which are one of the larger parts of my body.  My lower half is a size 28 right now while my top half is a size 24. I had already brought a size...
