July 2024

I do enjoy walking and so it's always a little surprising when I struggle.  I am still struggling a little, but less so.  My foot is still annoyingly numb sometimes as I walk.  I also have a rumbling ear issue that is niggling away.  The other thing is the heat.  On hot days I have to walk my dog when it is cooler and it can be tricky to put much distance in.

I completed 48.2 km though and managed to log 15 hours of walking and wo activities, so I received the two garmin challenges I was aiming for.  I completed my Inca Trail Conqueror challenge.  I did 79 minutes of brisk walking and got three Active 10's.  I am happy with this.  I may be a tiny bit under for the quarterly walking challenge, but not much.

I also got the breathework 3 badge for 25 breathework activities, a hydration badge and a sleeping badge.  Beyond that, I discovered that if I changed an activity with a lot of climbing, I could get the virtual climb - the Narrows badge for 334 feet of ascent.  The walk I changed was about 100 foot off the next challenge up.  I don't often have that level of climbing.

Swimming is a long way off still.  My ears are not great right now.  They have been generally rumbly this year but the last couple of weeks they have been bad and are not responding to anything I have.  I am waiting for a Doctor's appointment now.  Swimming would be a very bad idea right now unfortunately.  I am not convinced I will get back in the pool this year at this rate.

Cycling though...  a friend suggested that my husband didn't try and help me get started off cycling, that instead we hire a local coach for an hour or two, to get me going.  This seemed like a really nice idea and they also offered us an e-bike to use.  We need to wait till after the school holidays though, so it's something we are thinking of for September.  I am a long way from needing a bike of my own.  It would be an occasional thing for now.  Hire a bike and do a trail.

Yoga just didn't happen.  The first week I just felt off.  Then my husband had Covid and the last week I didn't have a car.  I still want to go though.

I have found this last week or so that starting my day with a few minutes of cardio is a good way to easily boost my metabolism.  I do one song of dance fitness using Youtube.  One song is not enough to really tire me out, but is enough to get me moving and my heart beating.

Weight loss has not been great. I am maintaining right now.  I finished the month one pound heavier than I started and that's ok...

I did eventually list a few more items on Vinted and I sold a few too.  Always nice!  Means I can buy something soon!

I think my health being a little bleurgh, I have felt a bit low here and there this month.  It's ok.  I hope it passes soon and I feel better.  It makes it harder to resist the chocolate...
